Figuring Out My Next Move In Real-Time
“I LOST Motivation | I LOST Inspiration | “How I Almost LOST Myself!”
I have been going through a tough time for the past three to five years. I recently found myself in a phase-out cycle with my work—something I did not want [initially]. I worked with the same employer for 24 years, one month, and 12 days. I thought I would leave my job by this time next year, if not sooner. Most of us at this job strive to get covered medical health insurance and our “Spouse” for life as one of our core benefits. Making this kind of excruciating decision weighed heavily on me. Still, the day-in and day-out at my previous work site became inherently worse, never better. Ultimately, I decided to give that up. In the back of my mind, I was rationalizing the medication I would no longer be able to get but must take daily. I had to make a choice.
Unfortunately, my career abruptly ended even sooner than I imagined. The working conditions became unbearable, and I no longer recognized myself, which was the most disheartening part. I dedicated my entire life to making it my duty for others at the top to look good, to be prepared, and to shine, always. That was until they all turned their backs on me one by one, leaving me in the vast unknown without a life preserver. There are certain things I would never do to any living “thing,” whether it’s an animal or a human. What I endured and kept to myself has forever changed who I am. Still, it only further illustrates the severe deficiencies I faced daily.
Being Your Own Rescue:
My experience towards the end of my career was difficult and traumatic. It was narcissistically calculated and completely unnecessary. To add insult to injury, it came from people you grew to love and respect. People you were being mentored by. The slap on the face hurt more because it came from “them.” I quickly figured out that they had other plans for me. The daily incessant trauma ensued.
Back to the sea of nothingness, what I found was a broken version of who I used to be. I was not whole or complete; nowhere near that. I had cuts, scraps, and pieces missing, and I was in a lot of pain. However, I could still recognize that it was me, and therein lies the beauty.
When one is broken, it’s easier to take the parts of you that no longer serve a purpose and leave them behind. Now, this is when you can fill yourself with new information, knowledge, and skills to begin living in a new way. You begin to create your next masterpiece: A New [Higher Version] of yourself.
The further along you get, the better, faster, stronger, and wiser you will become because of all those experiences that led you to this very moment. Live the life you were meant to live. What happens next?

Hi,
The journey described in “Courage | Being My Own Rescue” is profoundly resonant, illustrating the tumultuous path of self-discovery after a significant career and personal upheaval. This narrative opens up a meaningful discussion about the often-overlooked emotional and psychological challenges of facing such transitions. It’s a powerful reminder of the strength found in vulnerability and the transformative potential of embracing one’s own brokenness as a foundation for rebuilding. The emphasis on self-rescue speaks volumes about the importance of self-care and the courage it takes to prioritize one’s well-being amidst life’s trials. It raises crucial questions about societal expectations, personal fulfillment, and the definitions of success we choose to live by.
This is a beautiful article you have written. I love the story-telling style you used, weaving your very personal experiences into the article. Mental health is so very important and something I truly feel the corporate world just doesn’t take the time to understand nor address properly, especially here in the US (where I live, in case you live elsewhere). Being underappreciated and “brow beaten” – in both life and/or a job does nothing positive for anyone involved.
I watched my brother go through something similar at a company he worked at for over 40 years! He developed a hand “shake” (not Parkinson’s – something similar to ALS, although took a while to diagnose) and they simply dismissed/fired him rather than have him move positions. I believe this played an integral part into his spiral downward into depression and he ultimately gave up fighting for his life.
One thing that seems you have that my brother didn’t until the end, was quite evident to me in your article as soon as I read it. I noticed #3 in your plan, “HE’s Got Me!” – and, HE does!! It sounds like you realized that self-love comes from knowing that you are loved by HIM unconditionally and you are using that knowledge to help heal. That is fantastic. I pray your journey continues in this direction.
I can certainly relate to a lot here!! I have been in the same industry for about 34 years. I had to step away from it awhile and then come back. It has seemed like I keep being put into situations where I am supposed to perform at high levels while fixing things that others have broken. This results in being slower in productivity. I refuse to do things wrong just to get numbers. Bottom line I am almost being forced out by the nonsense. Thankfully I have found other avenues which might even be better and give me a much needed awesome new career path. I can only do it by rescuing myself. It starts with that decision!
As you navigated the transition from a long-term career to a new phase of self-discovery, what specific strategies did you find most effective in maintaining your resilience and sense of purpose? In reconciling the loss of identity with the process of reinventing yourself, what insights or practices proved instrumental? Additionally, how did you manage the emotional complexities of leaving behind familiarity and embracing the uncertainty of self-transformation? Share with us the pivotal moments or realizations that guided you through this journey of personal evolution, shedding light on the practical steps and emotional resilience required to navigate such a profound life transition.
As I read through “Courage: Being My Own Rescue” on A New Loving Era, I couldn’t help but resonate deeply with the author’s journey towards self-rescue. In a world where it’s easy to feel overwhelmed or reliant on external validation, the act of embracing our own courage becomes a beacon of hope. The author beautifully articulates the transformative power found within oneself, emphasizing the importance of self-reliance and inner strength.
Too often, we look to others to save us from our trials and tribulations, forgetting the immense reservoir of courage residing within. This piece serves as a powerful reminder that true liberation begins when we dare to confront our fears and uncertainties head-on. By taking ownership of our narrative and embracing our inherent courage, we pave the way for profound personal growth and empowerment. Thank you for sharing this inspiring reflection—it’s a testament to the resilience of the human spirit.

Hi, this is an inspiring article about things that can happen to everyone and unfortunately happen to a lot of people. I never found myself in that kind of situation, but I did come close a couple of times. One time I was almost left hanging by an employer who I believed valued me. Luckily, that ended well for me without serious consequences. Another time I just felt trapped on a job that I could not stand doing any longer. Unfortunately, I had to go through with it for some time because of contract obligations. In the end, when I ended that journey, I felt like a person reborn. I found a different path and never looked back. Thank you for sharing and showing there is always a way to go forward.
Dan
The post on courage and being one’s own rescue really struck a chord with me. It’s a powerful reminder of the strength we all have within to face challenges and take control of our journey. Such a motivating read for anyone needing a boost in self-confidence or a push to take the next step in their personal growth!
Thank you for sharing this pain with us, I know that was difficult to write. But you made it!
You sound like you made it through that trauma of being cast away by a long-time employer you trusted. Although, if you think about it, you had actually cast them aside before they did you. You already had the separation in mind. That means you had already seen they were shallow and you could live without them.
Having the rug pulled out from under you was not the plan I understand, but you survived because it was killing you slowly staying there, being free was your savior, they did you a favor by cutting the ties.
Look at you now! Now you are someone you are proud of and doing something you are happy doing and it’s fulfilling and meaningful! That is worth more than any job can pay.
Keep shining every day brighter than the day before, this just proves you are better now!
Stacie
Reading this heartfelt article on your recent challenging times resonated deeply with me since I am also going through a time right now. It’s inspiring to see how you transformed a tough time into an opportunity for self-discovery. The raw honesty about feeling lost and broken, yet finding strength and resilience within, is truly inspiring and I hope to find that myself soon. I find that it’s difficult to self-motivate when you’re also the DEmotivator at the same time. Have you found that there’s a bit of healing necessary to move this type of conflict forward?
Chase, I appreciate you opening up about your current situation. I want to ensure I respond properly, so I’ll set aside some time in the next few days to do so. In the meantime, I want to share this: healing plays a crucial role in navigating challenging life moments. Life transitions can be difficult. Depending on the severity of the issues, they can be traumatic. Remember, you are not defined by the trauma or your current circumstances like employment, finances, or broken relationships; those belong to the past version of you.
instead, ask yourself: What kind of world does the new you, want to create? How does Chase envision the next chapter of his life? It already sounds exciting! This is the mindset you’ll need as you move forward.

Your personal reflection on navigating a challenging career period is inspiring. Your honesty in detailing the emotional toll of enduring a toxic work environment and the subsequent journey to rediscover yourself resonates deeply.
Leaving behind a toxic workplace, despite uncertainties, showcases courage and commitment to well-being. Your metaphor of being in a “sea of nothingness” and finding a broken version of yourself is vivid, yet your resilience shines through as you embrace self-renewal and growth.
Your story offers hope to others facing similar challenges. How do you envision your journey inspiring others to navigate adversity and find fulfillment in their own lives?
Wow! You have been on an incredible life journey, and you obviously are still on the road to a new You. I believe and agree that what will emerge will be a wiser, more discerning, and more capable You. Transitioning is the difficult part, but it seems you are handling that excellently. Dealing with betrayal, as you have had to do, can be really challenging. You may even find that you are blaming yourself for what you went through. However, what is important is focusing on the new and emerging You and ensuring your self-rescue is completed. I find bits of my own journey in your story (particularly about the workplace), so your post really resonates with me. Thank you for sharing and for offering hope and inspiration.
Hi there,
Your piece on finding courage and self-rescue amidst life’s stormy seas hit a chord with me. It’s a powerful reminder of the strength and resilience that lies within us, even when faced with daunting challenges. Your journey of self-discovery and healing is incredibly inspiring. I’m curious, during your journey, how did you find the balance between seeking help from others and relying on your own inner strength? Thank you for sharing your wisdom and insights.
Best regards,
Makhsud
The concept of being one’s own rescue in situations requiring courage is compelling. It speaks to the importance of self-reliance and personal growth. I’ve found that understanding my own strengths and weaknesses plays a crucial role in this process. However, I wonder how we can balance this with the need for support from others. Is it always possible to be our own rescue, or are there situations where seeking help is the more courageous act?
Hey there! What an inspiring post! I really connected with your thoughts on courage and self-rescue. It’s amazing how we often overlook our own strength, isn’t it?
Your point about self-care resonated with me. How do you practice self-care to keep your courage tank full?
And I loved your take on fear. Do you have any favorite strategies for facing your fears?
Thanks for sharing your insights! Can’t wait to read more! 😊
Wow, this resonates deeply with me, especially given the nature of running multiple online ventures. It’s a constant roller coaster, with the excitement of new projects and the challenge of maintaining momentum across all of them.
The section on experiencing a loss of self hits home. I’ve had those moments, where I was so immersed in my work that I felt like I was losing touch with who I was outside of my entrepreneurial pursuits. It’s a tough balance to strike, and this reminder to stay connected to my core self is really valuable.
I also appreciate the part about the impact of a difficult work environment. In the online world, this isn’t always about physical conditions, but can also relate to the virtual environment, like dealing with negative feedback, handling competition, or facing technical issues. It’s a good reminder that these challenges can have a real impact on motivation and inspiration.
The process of self-rescue and rebirth is incredibly relevant. In the course of managing multiple businesses, there are always parts that no longer serve their purpose and need to be let go. It’s an ongoing process of evolution and refinement, and this insight encourages me to embrace that rather than resist it.
The emergence of a stronger self is the ultimate goal. Every challenge, every setback, and every victory in running these ventures is a stepping stone toward becoming better and wiser. It’s empowering to think of it this way, and it provides a great perspective to help navigate the ups and downs.
This narrative is a powerful testament to the resilience of the human spirit, which is at the core of every entrepreneurial journey. It’s a wonderful affirmation of the growth potential, even when faced with the most difficult circumstances. I’ll keep these insights in mind as I continue on my online journey.
As I read through this article, it’s clear that you have undergone significant challenges and transitions in your life, particularly in your career. Anr experience of feeling trapped in a job for nearly a quarter-century, only to find themselves in unbearable working conditions, is both relatable and distressing.
Your journey of self-discovery and resilience in the face of adversity is commendable, as they navigate through the process of rebuilding themselves and finding a new path forward.
I find myself wondering about a few things, if you don’t mind:
How did you cope with the abrupt end of your career? It’s mentioned that the experience was traumatic, but I’m curious about the specific strategies or support systems you relied on during this difficult period.
What specific steps did you take to embark on this journey of self-renewal, and what advice would you offer to others in similar situations?
Thank you for the insights!
Yes, it certainly was a blessing in disguise. Creating a higher vision of ourselves is what we all desire and our circumstances help us to recognize its importance. We do become stronger when we experience distressing situations and that inspires us to move on to better things. I agree that we are always taken care of. I applaud your courage to break free. I was in similar circumstances several years ago but it was the best decision I ever made. Dealing with the uncertainty is much better than enduring further pain and misery. Your message is important for us all.
Great article! I love that you are focused on self-help and building yourself! It’s crazy to know, that so many people we grow to love and trust at our jobs. Are the ones who will throw us under the bus the fastest. Life is to short to be completely miserable at work! You do you, my friend!
Truly, your very self needs to stand up in times of crisis. Nobody except you, can outsmart any challenges or difficulties that you encounter.
Falling down becomes bad if you don’t try to stand up and pick up the pieces. No matter how many times you fall, as long as you are able to stand up and face the obstacles, then you emerge as a winner!
I hope you are doing good with facing your job loss and moving forward with your life by being always positive.
Marita

This article speaks volumes about the emotional and psychological journey many face, particularly as they transition into retirement or find themselves suddenly without the career they’ve dedicated a significant portion of their lives to. The author’s candid sharing of losing motivation, inspiration, and almost losing themselves in the process is a narrative that resonates deeply with retirees or those on the cusp of retirement. The struggle of identity loss, the fear of the unknown, and the challenge of rediscovering oneself outside the confines of a long-held job are issues that many retirees grapple with.

Thanks,
Gary
Truly and sincerely a great article.
Having experienced my own downward spiral almost 9yrs ago now, I can absolutely see so much of that part of my life in your article. I’m often reminded of something that I saw somewhere years ago (and I’ve made attempts to remember ‘where’ in the past, unsuccessfully) where someone wearing a suit of armour starts coming out of it and is able to break into a full-on run as it falls away. That recollection was what I’d experienced – and which you describe in how parts of us that no longer serve us start to free us as they fall away during our journey toward our most authentic, well selves.
And as you’ve done, I would equally extend the invitation to anyone struggling who might just need an ear. The realization that we truly are not alone in all of this – despite how it might look in the early days; when friends and family may otherwise distance themselves at times in awkward, uncomfortable ways, we are not alone. We are not.
I appreciate you sharing.
It is hard and also disappointing at the same time when people you have helped, suddenly turn their backs and walk away from you when you are in need of just a little encouragement or a hand up.
As they say it is one way of finding out who your friends are, and often they do not belong to your family.
With society becoming more divisive, and governments more heavy handed, it saddens and angers me when I see some of the decisions they make or powers they enforce.
Thank you for sharing your heartfelt journey and the profound insights you’ve gained along the way. Your story of navigating through a challenging career transition and reclaiming your sense of self is truly inspiring.
It’s evident that you’ve faced immense obstacles and endured profound pain, yet you’ve emerged stronger and more resilient than ever. Your journey serves as a powerful reminder that even in the darkest of times, there is always hope for renewal and growth.
Your emphasis on self-rescue and the importance of healing is incredibly poignant. Learning to let go of what no longer serves us and embracing the opportunity to rebuild ourselves is a courageous act of self-love. Your simple yet profound plan for navigating through difficult moments resonates deeply and serves as a beacon of hope for those facing similar challenges.
Thank you for your vulnerability and openness in sharing your story. Your words offer solace and encouragement to those who may be experiencing similar struggles, reminding them that they are not alone. Your transformation into A-NewLovingEra is a testament to the power of resilience, self-compassion, and unwavering faith.
Wishing you continued strength, growth, and fulfillment on your journey of self-discovery and healing.
I can really understand the feelings you had of losing your job. I work for a very large global publishing company. It seems like every two years they are reorganizing and removing hundreds of jobs. Just recently, the company surprised everyone and let unsuspecting employees go. They never saw it coming. For woman I worked with had been with the company for 35 years and was a valuable employee. The CEO was asked about this layoff in a town meeting. He shrugged it off by saying companies need to change to grow. So far, I have survived multiple lay offs. The company seems to love me all the way up to one of the VPs. But I know that doesn’t mean anything. I recently shared a pun with my friends. One day you are the next best thing to sliced bread, and then the next day, you are toast.
But is sounds like you have found the light through all this as you rediscovered yourself. I loved your introspective thought process. I wish I could express internal thoughts the way you do. It was very refreshing. We all need to have that type of courage.
This is a surprising article and novel website. The idea of bearing one’s soul like that is intriguing. What a terrible experience, but what a revelation for you. As you mention, this kind of ‘trauma’ is happening all around us as people realise they are living a second-hand life, working for an hourly rate lining someone else’s pocket. Something similar happened when I retired from a lifetime career as a mindful educator. After the shock ebbed away, I realised I had been compromising my values and neglecting real life.
What do you expect from this article? I notice that you will coach others who have suffered in the same way, but what methods will you use? Psychological or Spiritual? Are you a qualified counsellor or therapist?
Blessings and Success.
Linden
Your story of navigating through a challenging career transition is both inspiring and poignant. The resilience and inner strength you’ve demonstrated in the face of adversity are truly remarkable. Your message of reaching out and supporting others who may be facing similar challenges is invaluable. Trauma can often leave individuals feeling isolated and unheard, making your offer of empathy and understanding incredibly meaningful. I’m curious, what specific strategies or practices helped you the most in finding your sense of self and moving forward during this difficult period?
This website is such a breath of fresh air! I love the focus on self-love and empowerment. It’s so important to prioritize ourselves and live a life that feels authentic. I’m excited to explore more of your content,For tips on self-love. The message about living the life you’re meant to live really resonated with me. Do you have any content specifically on overcoming self-doubt?
You certainly sound like you have been through a very bad time, but your strength of character shines through in your writing and I hope it goes very well for you. Looking forward to seeing what else you are going to share on what looks like a very empowering blog.
I particularly enjoyed your article on vulnerability. Is this website going to focus mainly on self-empowerment/mindset?
Hi
Thank for this article. Its a very sad and touchy article. We all get to similar situation in life and this would be a helpful information to share. I always hear people say being employed must not make you forget where you come from. Who your friends and families are because when things get sour you are going to need them. And in addition its very easy for your boss to replace you after having sucked all the blood out of you.
This is an important message, never loose yourself even when things get tough. Thank you once more
Regards
Richard
Your story is incredibly moving and powerful. It’s a stark reminder of how even the most stable aspects of our lives, like long-term careers, can suddenly shift and leave us reeling. What you’ve endured sounds incredibly tough, but the resilience and self-discovery you’ve described are truly inspirational. It’s not easy to redefine oneself, especially after such a long tenure and under harsh circumstances, but you’ve embraced the challenge beautifully.
Finding oneself in the “sea of nothingness” and emerging with a renewed sense of self is a profound journey. It’s admirable how you’ve managed to turn such a painful ending into a promising new beginning. Your approach to healing and moving forward—with simplicity and faith—is a valuable lesson for all of us facing life’s inevitable upheavals. Keep holding onto that strength and insight, and no doubt, you’ll continue to inspire many others through your journey and your words. Keep soaring high, and thank you for sharing such a personal and empowering story!
Thank you so much for your encouraging words. It is an ongoing process that brings their very own challenges, which i will end up writing about. Check back periodically.
All the best,
jcg
Reading your story resonated deeply with me as I’ve experienced similar challenges in my own career journey. Like you, I poured my heart and soul into my work, only to find myself abruptly released from positions I had dedicated myself to for years. The loss of identity and the feeling of being cast adrift in uncertainty can be incredibly disheartening.
Yet, amidst the hardship, there’s a glimmer of hope and resilience in your narrative. Despite the pain and trauma, you found the courage to reclaim your sense of self and embark on a journey of self-discovery. Your journey serves as a powerful reminder of the importance of prioritizing mental health and self-care, especially during times of upheaval and transition.
Thank you for sharing your story and offering words of wisdom for those navigating similar challenges. Your message of resilience and self-empowerment is truly inspiring. Wishing you all the best on your continued journey of healing and self-discovery.
Thank you for haring your experience at work, and how even after a lifetime of working, you were pushed out and lost yourself in the process. It must have been a very traumatic time in your life.
Self care, and particularly mental self care, is vitally important. It is only when you love yourself, that you can heal and take care of others. It is inspiring how you found yourself, and the steps you describe, will be helpful for those that find themselves in a similar situation to you. All the best in your continued growth and development.
It is always inspiring and warming to see someone embracing their journey with such honesty.
I know it’s not always easy to admit when we’re struggling, and your honesty about the journey is very motivating.
Did you have any particular experiences that you see as a turning point for you? And do you have any thoughts about staying strong and firm when things get overwhelming?
Thanks for the read. I enjoyed it!
Chris
Hi Chris,
I wrote a follow up article that may give you some insight on the questions you had.
look forward to your feedback. Here’s the link:

Hi, I enjoyed reading your article and empathised with your struggles and the road that you have been down. I went on a similar journey a long time ago. You have come to your own rescue, and I realise that in my own case that is also what I did, because no one else came to rescue me. Maybe most people have such trials and tribulations in their lives, and maybe some people have an easier passage than others. Anyway you got through your difficulties and came back from your dark place. Thank you for sharing your journey. I think mental health is an area of study requiring more attention, especially when I see the statistics of so many young people taking their own lives for different reasons, Thank you for sharing, Alan.
Thank you for being open and honest about what you’ve been through. Your story is a testament to how resilient we are as human beings and even though life throws us so far down the gutter we can’t see anything clearly, there is always hope for a better tomorrow.
Looking back upon your life, would you trade anything out or do you see it as part of who you are and wouldn’t trade it for anything?
Hi Nathan,
Looking back, would I change anything? No. Each stumble, each misstep, they were mine – lessons for me to learn. Every single one led me to this exact moment. Could things have unfolded differently? Certainly, but isn’t that just the unpredictable dance we call life?
The way I choose to see things is the day I truly “arrive” is the day I find unity with my maker. Until then, every scrape, every bruise, is a testament to my journey. A new chapter, a new tale if you will. One i will enjoy telling from my deathbed. To be able to say, “I was unafriad to live life.”
All the best,
-jcg
It truly resonated with me and illustrated the profound impact that career challenges and personal betrayal.
I have a couple of questions: What was your motivation during this time? What specific strategies or practices helped you reconnect with your true self and start your healing process? Your journey is inspiring, and I’m curious to learn more about how you navigated this transformation.”
Hey Brightdigminds!
Thank you for taking the time to read the article. You gave me an excellent idea for one of the following articles: the healing process. I have seen this in the comments, so look out for that article in the near future.
To give you some insight into your questions, my motivation at the end of that career was the moment i realized how lost and broken I felt. I realized that i was more afraid of accepting that reality than to go live my life. It sounds a bit corny but honest. During my tenure there, I knew of two career employees who were found dead in their office on Monday morning. Accepting that fate scared me more than allowing myself to try my luck in the unknown. So I went for it
Best Regards,
-jcg
What an inspirational submission, so personal and so authentic. In my experience I’ve learnt that when circumstances knock you down, life has a way of making you land on your strength. You may not realize it at first because you’ll be clouded by pain and bitterness which is somehow a necessary part of self discovery. The process sheds off unnecessary chaff and debris and leaves you with no choice but to focus on the most irreplaceable and valuable asset that you have, and that is you. You will never truly love anything or anyone before you start loving yourself, thank you for sharing, I totally relate to your experience.
Elias,
Thank you so much for taking the time to read and comment on my article. You speak only truth in your reply and this process [challenging at times] is something I would not change for anything in the world. Humbled.
All the best,

Hello there,
Thanks for sharing this insightful article, it’s a powerful reminder of the strength found in adversity and the potential for growth through self-discovery.Could the author’s narrative serve as a cautionary tale about the tolls of toxic work environments and the importance of prioritizing mental health in career decisions?”
“Does the author’s journey from adversity to self-renewal inspire readers to reflect on their own resilience and capacity for personal reinvention amidst challenging circumstances?
Gemma,
King regards
This article offers a deeply personal reflection on a challenging period in your life, marked by career struggles, loss of identity, and eventual self-discovery. Here are some short comments on key aspects of the piece:
You vividly describes the emotional toll of losing motivation and inspiration after 24 years with the same employer, emphasizing the weight of leaving behind a job with significant benefits like health insurance. The emotional journey from feeling abandoned by trusted colleagues to finding personal strength is poignantly portrayed.
Despite the trauma and betrayal, you find a silver lining in rediscovering themselves. This transformation from feeling broken to recognizing the potential for a new, higher version of oneself is inspiring and highlights the resilience of the human spirit.

Hello, your story reminds me of mine so much! I, too was made redundant earlier than I expected. I also didn’t recognized myself at the end of my employee years. Why? I wasn’t performing like I used to do. I wasn’t the super machine I used to be. And when I was fired, my first 4 months were full of sleep I’ve missed during the last eight years before my redundancy! It’s good that you decided to heal yourself, and I wish you good luck on your journey.
Your article is a moving story about how people can rise above tough times and find new purpose in life. It’s honest and heartfelt, offering hope to anyone feeling lost or broken. By sharing more details about your experiences, the support you had, and how you grew through it all, you can make your story even more impactful. Your journey shows that, despite the struggles, people can always rebuild and find strength, making it a message of resilience that many can relate to.

Your remarks on being your own rescue resonated deeply with me – ever since childhood I’ve been controlled and now that I’m an adult it’s hard to place every single puzzle piece again and developing myself as a brand new person. I’ve been grappling with severe anxiety and stress for a long time, and your journey of losing and finding yourself struck a chord. The way you navigated through such a tumultuous period in your life, especially after dedicating so many years to a career that ended so abruptly, is both heart-wrenching and inspiring. This is beautiful, raw, and brutally honest which allows us the readers to be fully engaged. I especially love your three step plan. which ends to breath and finally the exhale with number 3 to exhale. Sometimes keeping things as simple as the way you put can get a lot of us through what we may be going through. Everything in life is truly temporary and while it may feel overwhelming, understanding that its temporary and evolving can help us get through the storm. When you say He’s got me, could you expantiate on that?
Hello Kris,
Having been raised in a religious environment, I have always felt a profound connection with God, or with the Divine. I opt to use the pronouns HE, HIM, HIS, EL (in all caps) to convey my personal connection rather than to attribute a gender. These pronouns represent a particular Divine aspect that has provided me with and guided me in both my personal life and professional work life, without promoting any particular religious doctrine. For me, this is about acknowledging a universal spiritual presence that goes beyond individual beliefs. I hope this helps to understand my views a bit more.
All the best,
-jcg

Any advice for those who are beginning their own journey of self-discovery and healing? Thank you for sharing your story and insights.
Your story is a profound and heartfelt reflection on enduring and overcoming immense personal and professional challenges. Losing motivation and inspiration after dedicating over two decades to a single employer is a testament to the complexity of human emotions and the intrinsic value we place on loyalty and stability. The vivid description of your long tenure, underscored by the exact duration, highlights the depth of your commitment and the gravity of the decision to leave. This detail alone conveys the significant personal investment and the pain of severing such a long-standing relationship.
The transformation you describe, from a state of brokenness to rediscovering and rebuilding yourself, is inspiring. Your metaphor of finding “a shiny new toy” in yourself amidst a “vast sea of nothingness” beautifully captures the essence of self-recovery and empowerment. This journey of piecing together a new, improved version of oneself from the fragments of the past is a powerful message of resilience and growth.
Your conclusion is especially uplifting, encouraging readers to embrace their own journey of self-discovery and to view their experiences as building blocks for a stronger future. It suggests that even in our darkest moments, there is potential for renewal and that each of us holds the power to create a higher version of ourselves.
Overall, your story is a moving testament to the human spirit’s capacity to overcome adversity and emerge stronger. It serves as a reminder that while life’s challenges can be profoundly painful, they also offer opportunities for profound growth and self-realization.
After working in my chosen industry for nearly 36 years I knew my time was coming to an end. The snide remarks, the look from young upstarts, and the sniggering in the corner of the office all pointed towards an inevitable end. And so I walked away from it..better to walk rather than be pushed. I decided to become a freelance operator and work for any company that met my high standards of ethics. It was the best move I ever made and I wondered then, and still wonder why I didn’t make the move years previously. The mental “lift” and the physical improvement moved me into another league of self-empowerment. Does this ring a bell with anyone?
Thank you for sharing your story. Its a reminder that in the corporate world we all have a shelf live and we resist the temptation believing that our own aspiration are fully align with the corporate strategic plans. The reality that its doesn’t become apparent, it is often a harsh wake up call for many. This experience can be traumatic for some especially those who might have fully vested them selves in the corporation and their so call ideals and had great expectations and are left with unfulfilled dreams as their shelf live has hit the expiration day. Therefore your site should be helpful and an inspirational tool to help with the recovery and recuperation of many who may be impact by this phenomenon.
There are many who are in need of such services that you offer and failing a seismic shift in corporate culture I envisage many more will require the services. In the meantime I love the layout of your website its compelling and will likely draw in the readers that have had similar experiences. Best Wishes.
Your journey of self-discovery and the emphasis on living a life filled with love and purpose is incredibly inspiring. It’s refreshing to see someone so openly share their personal experiences and insights. The practical advice on embracing change and cultivating a loving mindset is something I will most certainly incorporate into my own life. Thank you for sharing such a heartfelt and motivating article.
